Cage‑rearing is a large‑scale breeding system for parent‑stock and grandparent‑stock breeders. Breeding chickens are kept in cages with space restriction, and fertilization is achieved by artificial insemination, which is different from natural mating under floor‑rearing systems.

It includes two main cage types: stacked breeder cages and stepped breeder cages. Fully‑automated supporting equipment is configured for feeding, drinking, manure removal, egg collection, and environmental control. As one of the mainstream systems for breeder farms in China, this model aims to increase stocking density per unit area and achieve precise body‑weight management.
