Air‑energy Chicken Manure Dryer

I. Application

Applicable scenarios: Large‑scale laying‑hen, broiler, and breeder‑chicken farms. It can connect with cage‑rearing PP manure‑removal belts for direct feeding of fresh chicken manure into the equipment. It is also suitable for organic‑fertilizer processing plants treating externally‑purchased poultry manure, as well as environmental‑protection upgrading projects for old farms.

Material treatment: Raw chicken manure with 70‑80% moisture content can be dried down to 20‑30% moisture. The dried output can be directly used as raw material for organic fertilizer or biomass fuel.

Configuration tiers: Small box‑type drying rooms for medium‑and‑small farms; large multi‑layer mesh‑belt continuous production lines for large chicken farms with more than 100 000 birds, supporting 24‑hour non‑stop operation.

Civil‑engineering supporting requirements: An independent machine room with hardened, load‑bearing floors is required. Supporting manure‑conveying systems and discharge storage silos shall be provided. Power supply capacity shall match unit power rating. Condensate drainage shall be properly arranged, and a simple deodorization system can be added as an option.

Extended adaptability: Besides chicken manure, the dryer can process duck manure, pigeon manure and other types of livestock and poultry manure. It fits planting‑breeding circular‑economy projects and meets environmental‑protection acceptance requirements.

II. Production

Core Equipment Components

Air‑source heat‑pump main unit: Variable‑frequency compressor, evaporator and anti‑corrosion condenser upgraded to resist corrosive water vapour from manure. It supplies low‑temperature hot air at 45‑65 °C with closed‑loop circulating heat exchange.

Drying chamber: Box‑type drying room or multi‑layer mesh‑belt drying production line. Hot‑dip‑galvanized frame with internal anti‑corrosion treatment. Mesh‑belt versions are equipped with material‑spreading and breaking mechanisms to eliminate lumpy chicken manure and ensure uniform heating.

Feeding and conveying system: Screw feeder and feeding breaking‑and‑slicing device to break up wet caked chicken manure and increase the heat‑exchange surface area.

Circulating‑air duct and condensation system: Internal hot‑air circulation duct where moisture condenses and is drained in liquid form to reduce odour emission. A waste‑heat‑recovery module recovers exhaust‑air heat to improve energy efficiency.

Discharge system: Discharge conveyor transports dried manure to the storage silo. Some models are fitted with a material‑return mechanism for secondary drying of high‑humidity material.

Intelligent control system: PLC control cabinet with monitoring of temperature, humidity and material moisture content. It automatically adjusts unit power and air volume. Local operation, remote monitoring, data storage and report output are supported.

Technological Process

Fresh chicken manure (70‑80 % moisture) → Screw feeding → Breaking and slicing → Entry into drying chamber → Low‑temperature hot‑air circulating drying by heat pump → Water‑vapour condensation and drainage → Discharged dried chicken manure (20‑30 % moisture) → Conveyed to storage silo. The whole process runs in a closed environment.

Factory Production and On‑site Implementation

Factory‑side work includes sheet‑metal welding, anti‑corrosion treatment, heat‑pump unit assembly and electric‑control system commissioning. Modular‑split equipment is transported to site. On‑site work covers equipment positioning, connection of conveying pipelines, electrical wiring and condensate‑drainage pipe installation. No‑load commissioning and material‑loading drying tests are carried out to verify finished‑product moisture content before hand‑over for production.

III. Services

Pre‑project planning: On‑site survey. Equipment selection, machine‑room layout and power‑consumption calculation are completed according to farm stocking capacity and daily chicken‑manure output. A complete project scheme is delivered with assistance in investment and operating‑cost estimation.

Installation and commissioning: A professional on‑site installation team connects with the farm‑house manure outlet and sets a full set of process parameters including drying temperature, duration and humidity.

Personnel training: Operator training covering equipment start‑up/shutdown, routine inspection, filter cleaning, fault identification and standard operating procedures (SOP) for equipment maintenance.

After‑sales operation & maintenance: 7×24‑hour technical support and supply of wearing parts; periodic return‑visit inspections; remote troubleshooting for heat‑pump, conveying and electric‑control faults; provision of maintenance manuals.

Value‑added services: Renovation and upgrading of old manure‑treatment systems; connection with supporting organic‑fertilizer fermentation and granulation equipment; supply of technical documentation required for environmental‑protection acceptance.

IV. Advantages

Outstanding energy‑saving performance: The heat‑pump draws heat from ambient air. It saves more than 60 % energy compared with electric‑heating or coal‑fired drying, delivers low operating costs and requires no coal or gas fuel.

Low‑temperature drying preserves nutrients: Drying at 45‑65 °C avoids excessive scorching of organic matter and minimises losses of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. High‑quality dried manure is produced with great value for organic‑fertilizer processing. Meanwhile, parasite eggs and pathogens can be eliminated to meet basic harmless‑treatment requirements.

Closed‑loop eco‑friendly operation with controllable odour: Closed‑loop drying condenses water vapour into liquid for drainage, with almost no waste‑gas discharge. Complex deodorization towers are not required, reducing odour nuisance and complying with farm environmental‑protection regulations.

High automation level: Automatic feeding can be linked with poultry‑house manure belts. 24‑hour continuous operation is available without round‑the‑clock on‑site attendance, and remote monitoring is supported.

Safe operation: No open flame eliminates fire and explosion risks associated with coal or gas combustion, making it suitable for installation inside livestock farms.

Easy storage and transportation of finished products: Dried chicken manure is greatly reduced in volume and weight, facilitating storage, transport and off‑farm sales. It solves the difficulty of fresh‑manure transportation and turns waste manure into a valuable resource.

Objective Limitations

High one‑time capital investment; long processing time per tonne of material under low‑temperature drying; reduced unit energy efficiency in cold winter conditions; regular anti‑corrosion maintenance is required as equipment components are exposed to manure‑laden water vapour.
