Manure‑channel Cleaning Robot

I. Application

Applicable breeding scenarios: Stacked‑cage farms for laying hens, breeder chickens, broilers and meat ducks, suitable for deep underground manure ditches and under‑cage manure channels. It can also be used for manure‑ditch cleaning in large‑scale pig farms. The equipment operates mainly during the empty period after flock depletion and shall not run with live poultry inside the house.

Project scenarios: Supporting facilities for newly‑built large‑scale breeding bases; biosecurity renovation and upgrading of old farms. It eliminates safety risks of confined‑space manual operations inside manure channels and can be connected to high‑pressure water‑supply and sewage‑drainage systems.

Treatment targets: Hardened manure lumps, feathers and residual manure scale on the bottom and side walls of manure channels. Wastewater after cleaning is directly discharged into the on‑house sewage pipeline network.

Configuration tiers: Simple traction‑driven model for small‑and‑medium‑sized farms; high‑end self‑propelled crawler‑track model equipped with cameras and remote‑control & automatic back‑and‑forth travel functions, suitable for long manure‑channels of up to 100‑metre‑long large poultry houses.

Civil‑engineering supporting requirements: No sharp protrusions inside manure channels; access‑and‑maintenance openings for robot entry‑exit reserved at both ends of the manure channel; supporting high‑pressure water‑supply connections and sewage drainage facilities; adequate power supply; an external control console is equipped for high‑end versions.

II. Production

Core Equipment Components

Traveling chassis system: Crawler‑track or wheel‑type chassis. The whole machine is made of 304 stainless steel or hot‑dip‑galvanised steel for anti‑corrosion performance, adapting to the high‑humidity and corrosive environment inside manure channels. Anti‑skid and anti‑jamming functions are provided to adapt to slippery channel floors.

Operation Actuating Mechanism

High‑pressure flushing unit: Multi‑angle rotating high‑pressure nozzles deliver 360° coverage for ditch bottoms and side walls, stripping hardened manure under high water pressure.

Scraper assembly: Height‑adjustable push‑scraper gathers loose manure towards the sewage outlet.

Lighting & camera module: Built‑in LED lights and front‑rear cameras. An external display enables real‑time monitoring of the cleaning status inside the manure channel.

Pipeline and power unit: High‑pressure water‑supply hose and cable reel. Traction‑type models are fitted with an automatic hose retracting‑and‑unreeling mechanism to prevent pipeline tangling and pulling damage.

Control system: Wired remote control. High‑end versions support automatic round‑trip travel along preset paths. Overload protection and jam‑alarm functions are available; working‑duration recording is supported.

Technological Process

Complete depletion and emptying of the poultry house → Robot is delivered into the manure‑channel through the inlet → Remote‑controlled forward movement; scraper gathers manure while high‑pressure nozzles flush ditch walls and bottoms → Waste is washed to the sewage outlet and drained out of the channel → After the whole manure‑channel is cleaned, the robot returns to the inlet‑outlet opening; disinfectant liquid can be switched on to carry out disinfection inside the manure‑channel.

Factory Production and On‑site Implementation

Factory‑side procedures include sheet‑metal welding, stainless‑steel anti‑corrosion treatment, high‑pressure water‑circuit assembly and electric‑control system installation. Equipment is packed in separate components for transportation. On‑site work comprises main‑unit positioning, water‑supply & power‑supply wiring and pipeline layout. No‑load commissioning and ditch‑entry trial‑run are performed to verify traveling, flushing and scraper functions. Formal hand‑over takes place after acceptance inspection.

III. Services

Pre‑project planning: On‑site survey of manure‑channel dimensions, ditch depth, width and length. Equipment selection, inlet‑outlet condition assessment, supporting water‑supply & sewage‑drainage renovation schemes and investment‑cost estimation assistance are provided.

Installation and commissioning: On‑site equipment assembly, water‑circuit and electric‑circuit connection, debugging of travel speed, water‑pressure and scraper lifting parameters.

Personnel training: Operator training on equipment operation, pipeline storage, routine cleaning & maintenance, fault identification and standard operating procedures (SOP) for confined‑space safety work.

After‑sales operation & maintenance: 7×24‑hour technical support, supply of wearing parts (nozzles, seals, rubber strips); remote troubleshooting for water‑circuit, traveling and electric‑control faults; provision of equipment‑maintenance manuals.

Value‑added services: Renovation adaptation for old manure‑channels; connection with the full in‑house washing‑and‑disinfection system; supply of biosecurity‑related technical documents required for project acceptance.

IV. Advantages

Safety‑risk avoidance: Personnel no longer need to carry out confined‑space operations inside manure‑channels, thus eliminating safety accidents such as poisoning and oxygen shortage and improving working conditions.

Stable cleaning quality with eliminated sanitary dead zones: High‑pressure nozzles cover corners of ditch bottoms and walls. Hard‑to‑reach areas for manual cleaning can be thoroughly cleared to reduce residual manure scale, lower cross‑infection risks between batches and improve biosecurity levels.

Higher empty‑house turnover efficiency: Working efficiency is greatly improved compared with manual ditch cleaning, shortening empty‑house cleaning time and raising the turnover utilisation rate of poultry houses.

Reduced labour dependence: One single operator can remotely control cleaning of multiple manure‑channels, solving labour‑recruitment difficulties and high‑intensity workload for farm cleaning posts.

Strong equipment adaptability: Large‑scale civil‑engineering reconstruction is unnecessary for most old farms; only entry‑exit openings need to be reserved. Both new and old chicken houses can be retrofitted for use.

Multi‑purpose machine: After fresh‑water flushing, disinfectant liquid can be switched on, completing both cleaning and disinfection in one working cycle.

Objective Limitations

It is only suitable for empty‑house operation and cannot run with live poultry. Deformed manure‑channels or massive large‑size manure lumps are very likely to cause machine jamming. High‑pressure water supply with sufficient water pressure and volume is required. Wearing parts such as nozzles and seals need periodic replacement.
