Chicken Manure Air‑dryer

I. Application

Applicable breeding targets: Mainly designed for large‑scale stacked‑cage laying‑hen farms, and also applicable to breeder‑chicken farms. It is less frequently adopted in broiler farms due to the high viscosity of broiler manure. Duck manure, pigeon manure and other types of poultry manure can also be treated.

Applicable scenarios: Manure‑treatment supporting facilities for newly‑built laying‑hen bases; environmental‑protection upgrading and renovation of old chicken farms. The equipment can be installed at the exhaust outlet at the far‑end of the chicken house to directly reuse the waste residual heat from poultry‑house ventilation. It can also be connected to organic‑fertilizer processing plants.

Treatment capacity: Custom‑made according to the farm’s poultry stock, suitable for farms with 50 000‑1 000 000 birds. Fresh chicken manure features a moisture content of 70‑80 %, which can be reduced to 20‑30 % after air‑drying. Optimal performance is achieved in warm seasons. The treatment efficiency declines under high‑humidity and low‑temperature conditions. An auxiliary supplementary‑heating module is available as an optional accessory for some models.

Civil‑engineering supporting requirements: An independent machine room adjacent to the chicken‑house exhaust outlet is required. Sufficient load‑bearing capacity of the equipment foundation shall be guaranteed. Supporting feeding‑and‑discharging conveying systems and dry‑manure storage silos shall be equipped. The power supply shall match the installed fan power. Exhaust gas shall be treated for deodorization.

II. Production

Core Equipment Components

Multi‑layer chain‑plate air‑drying main unit: Multi‑layer hollowed‑out chain plates; hot‑dip‑galvanized frame for corrosion resistance. The chain plates convey materials in reciprocating motion layer by layer; manure falls onto the lower layer and is air‑dried step‑by‑step. A turning‑over and breaking mechanism is installed to crush lumpy chicken manure and enlarge the ventilation contact area.

Wet‑dry mixing and material‑spreading mechanism: Wet chicken manure is mixed with part of the returned dry manure to lower material viscosity and prevent adhesion to chain plates. A swinging material‑distributing mechanism evenly spreads manure on the surface of chain plates.

Negative‑pressure induced‑draft air‑duct system: High‑pressure induced‑draft fan and wind‑pressure bin extract warm waste exhaust gas from the chicken house. Airflow penetrates the manure layer and carries away moisture. An optional simple spray deodorization module can be fitted to reduce odour emission.

Feeding‑and‑discharging conveying system: Feed screw/belt conveyor connects with the chicken‑house manure‑removal belt. A discharge auger transports dry manure to the storage silo. A supporting material‑return system enables part of the dry manure to flow back for mixing.

Intelligent control system: PLC control cabinet adjusts chain‑plate travelling speed and fan air volume. Process parameters are automatically modified according to ambient temperature and humidity. Local operation and remote monitoring are supported, together with running‑data recording.

Technological Process

Fresh chicken manure discharged from cage‑rearing equipment (70‑80 % moisture) → Conveying and feeding → Wet‑dry manure mixing and distributing → Even spreading on multi‑layer chain plates → Air‑drying layer‑by‑layer by poultry‑house residual‑heat airflow penetrating the manure layer → Dry‑manure discharge (20‑30 % moisture) → Delivered to storage silo for off‑site sales or deep processing into organic fertilizer.

Factory Production and On‑site Implementation

Factory‑based procedures include sheet‑metal welding, hot‑dip‑galvanizing anti‑corrosion treatment, chain‑plate machining and electric‑control assembly. Modular‑split equipment is transported to the construction site. On‑site work covers equipment positioning, connection with chicken‑house exhaust outlets, installation of conveying pipelines and electrical wiring. No‑load commissioning and material‑loading trial‑run are performed, and finished‑product moisture content is verified before formal production hand‑over.

III. Services

Pre‑project planning: On‑site survey. Equipment selection, machine‑room layout and air‑volume calculation are completed based on farm poultry stock, daily chicken‑manure output and local climate. A complete project scheme is delivered with assistance in investment and operating‑cost estimation.

Installation and commissioning: A professional on‑site assembly team connects with the chicken‑house manure discharge outlet and debugs a full set of process parameters including chain‑plate speed and fan air volume.

Personnel training: Operator training covering equipment start‑up and shutdown, routine inspection, chain‑plate cleaning, fault identification and maintenance‑related standard operating procedures (SOP).

After‑sales operation & maintenance: 7×24‑hour technical support and supply of wearing parts; periodic return‑visit inspections; remote troubleshooting for faults of fans, transmission assemblies and electric‑control systems; provision of equipment‑maintenance manuals.

Value‑added services: Renovation and upgrading of old manure‑treatment systems; connection with supporting organic‑fertilizer fermentation and granulation equipment; supply of technical documentation required for environmental‑protection acceptance inspection.

IV. Advantages

Low energy consumption: The system mainly makes use of residual heat from chicken‑house exhaust air, and only consumes electric power for fans and drive motors. Its per‑ton operating cost is lower than that of air‑energy dryers and rotary drum dryers.

Complete nutrient retention: Air‑drying is carried out at ambient temperature throughout the whole process with no high‑temperature treatment. Losses of organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in manure are minimised, producing high‑quality raw materials for organic fertilizer.

Continuous automated operation: It can be directly connected to the PP manure‑removal belt of chicken houses and operates non‑stop for 24 hours, reducing manual intervention.

Remarkable manure reduction effect: The moisture content of manure drops sharply, accompanied by greatly reduced volume and weight. Storage, loading and off‑site transportation become convenient, solving the transportation difficulty of fresh manure.

Moderate equipment investment: The overall procurement cost is lower than that of air‑energy drying equipment, bringing less upfront financial pressure for projects.

Safe and reliable, no open‑flame risk: No heat‑source boiler is required, eliminating fire hazards and making it suitable for deployment inside breeding farms.

Objective Limitations

The performance is highly affected by ambient climate. Air‑drying efficiency decreases, and the treatment cycle is prolonged in cold winter seasons and the plum‑rain season in southern regions. It cannot achieve an extremely low final moisture content for manure. A supporting deodorization system is required. Poor adaptability exists for highly‑viscous broiler manure. Regular cleaning and maintenance are needed for chain plates and manure‑turning mechanisms.
